Abstract
This study seeks to identify the happiness of single-person elderly households living in the community, and to identify the factors that affect the happiness of each age group. The subjects of the survey were 4,830 single-person elderly households nationwide based on their gender and age, and 65 years old by age group. The data were analyzed for 730 people aged 65-69, 981 people aged 70-74, 1,405 people aged 75-79, 1,134 people aged 80-84, and 580 people aged 85 and older. According to the analysis, the happiness of single-person elderly households differed significantly by age group, and the multiple regression analysis of the factors influencing happiness showed the characteristics of each age group. The better subjective health conditions, the better nutrition conditions, the more suicidal you have, the higher the satisfaction level of economic conditions, and the higher the level of exchange with neighbors, the more happy you are. On the other hand, the more frequently women participated in welfare centers and religious facilities, the higher the level of interaction with their families, the higher the frequency of social gatherings, the higher the happiness of the elderly in their 60s and 70s. Based on the results of this study, practical and policy interventions for social welfare should be sought to promote happiness in consideration of the characteristics of each age group of single-person elderly households.
